The PROTOform Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series (WCICS) wrapped up its 2015-2016 season last month in Calgary Canada. The final event in the eight-leg series would determine several of the class titles since the points race was very close among many racers. This final event attracted the second largest number of registrations of WCICSâ™ 25th season, nearing 225 entries.
Qualifying:
In the Modified Touring class Blake Bell set the pace in the early rounds of qualifying with his XRAY T4â™16. Bell had the quickest car in the tighter infield sections after working with XRAY teammate Luke Pittman on setups to match the tight track which featured multiple 180 degree corners. His T4â™16 was very agile in the tight infield without feeling too edgy. Bell would improve his own TQ over the course of qualifying on Saturday but the field was very tight with the top five drivers separated by just two seconds. For Sunday morningâ™s last chance qualifier, Bell found new pace after gluing the sidewalls of his front tires and he reset his own TQ by two seconds.

Mains:
In the Modified Touring A-Main, Bell contended with local favourite Pete Tozser in the early part of the race. The two drivers swapped positions a couple of times which allowed Wayne Mah to join the battle at the front. At the mid point of the race Bell was back on top, but Tozser and Mah were only one second back. With about one minute to go in the race, a back marker mistakenly contacted Bell which dropped him to third place. He was able to regain 2nd but didnâ™t have enough time to challenge for the lead again. In the end, Bellâ™s TQ and 2nd place finish was enough to earn him the WCICS 2015-2016 Touring Modified championship.
Bellâ™s championship winning T4 2016 was largely stock, with the XRAY Flex Alu chassis, a titanium screw kit, and the XRAY Alu bellcrank.
